Metal that bends AND it breaks

Recommended Posts

Today I was replacing a 0.9mm bracelet pin with a new one bought from the usual supplier which for lack of a better term I'd describe to be made of ferrous material. Not everything went right, so It bent while trying to fit it. No problem, I straightened it a little, then it bent again. While fiddling with the collar which was stuck on it, I manipulated it just a bit more and it snapped. Now we agree that 0.9mm is not a large size, but I have used common nails about the same size which were much more resilient. Am I right in thinking that a metal that both bends and breaks easily is just utterly poor?

Bands can be a PITA, I once had a woman bring a watch in for repair at the store where I worked, she stated "had been run over by a lawnmower". I told her it was TIME for a new watch!:D Not to be sexist, but women can be brutal on watches. They tend to wear them like they were water and shock proof. Just sayin'!

I have a story on women and bands. A friend has bought a PP to the wife, at some point the strap needed replacement and they went to the AD. She had no problem saying that she had been washing dishes with it. The girl at the counter just smiled and said that altough crocs are water animals, that was a bit too much. Knowing the people in question I know the story is true [emoji28]

No not necessarily, it means that it is not the correct metal for the job it has been used for.
