Can these Ray Ban frames be repaired?

Hi all.

My sunglasses broke. No idea how but as you can see from the photo, snapped and lense fell out.

Can the frame be repaired successfully?

Yes, absolutely possible. Even in these days of  throwing away, optical labs still do soldering repairs.

I repaired a Ray-ban frame that broke in almost the same place. A friend of mine work in a place that has a laserweld machine. What is the material in the frames? Mine where titanium.

Superglue and tape...but you will look like the "absent minded professor"!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist Ro63rto! As it was said, welding it probably in an optical shop...careful because if it is in my area, you get some real sloppy jobs...therefore you end up buying another! You can't give them to anyone anymore!

Hope you can fix them, they are very nice!

There used to be loads of decent independent places but now its all Specsavers and Boots.

I'll have to do some research..

Got some research to do then. Don't fancy forking out another $150

Still got a pair of Olympian II Deluxe to use in the meantime.

No need for laser in this case. Traditional methods are fine. All retailers sends work to the same few large labs. Similar to when people brings watch for repair to a jeweler.

Even better then. Maybe I'll try my local Boots. Was originally a Dolland & Aitchison up until a few years ago.

How old are they? Any warranty? Try a dental technichian laboratory for help with laserwelding. They usually have small enough laser welding to weld this kind of things. Good luck .

Bought them around 6 years ago so well outside the 2 year guarantee.

Wouldn't have thought about dental tech labs. Thanks.

Roberto...go to a panel shop that has an electro-spot welder.  Get the guys (or gals) there to spot weld the two bits back together.  They'd probably do it for a fiver.  Then all you need to do is take it back to your work bench and get some small metal files to work on the glob of weld until you have it looking reasonably good, cosmetically-speaking.

Found a place called National Frame Repairs.

They repair up to to breaks for £22. Seem to get good reviews and are one of the main repairers for Ray Ban.

any middle to high end jeweler is going to have a StarWeld or similar laser onsite and can make the repairs very quickly. I do these all the time in all sorts of metals. Just make sure they are equipped with argon for titanium or the weld won't be reliable. I generally start pricing at $20.00 so its definitely affordable
