Repair Loose Hand

If the hand is okay. It's easy to just put it back in the pivot and press with a toothpick. That is actually what i use most of the time. Press in the middle. Some movement may need to have the pinion to be  supported on the opposite side.

I'm guessing you probably don't have one, but just for the record:

The proper way of tightening hands that don't grip the pinion/canon properly is with a staking set. Not sure if I'm going to be able to explain this in a way that makes sense, but for those that have them, look for the stake that is appropriately sized with an open, inward incline these are used to push the gripping tube section of the hand evenly together with a light tap, hand facing bottom side up. 

It's explained and illustrated somewhere in 'the staking set and how to use it' there's a .pdf but it apparently doesn't have that page. 

Never tried to use a reamer and pinching it, but it sounds like it would work.
