Cheap Watches My Missus Bought Me.

Okay...so I'll post the Ebay selling links so you can see the watches.  My missus bought two watches to butter me up about her flying to see her mum interstate on her own.  No skin off my nose!  But batching-it for a week is not good for my waistline!

A hand-winder.  Seems to have more than one jewel.  Over the two weeks I've had it the watch seems to gain about ten seconds a day.  No big deal, considering the price.  The finish is nice...even has a see-through back and a mineral glass lens.

It has the venerable (and inexpensive) Miyota movement and even sports a nice Rhinestone cap on the crown!  Lens is mineral glass and the dial is nicely presented with a pressed etch design.  

 

The missus spent less than thrity bucks in total.  Her airfare was $120 so...meh...cheap domestic peace!   :D

Yeah...I though the same thing.  "Longbow" sounds nicer than "Longbo"  (which brings up all sorts of nefarious imagery best not thought about!). :D

You can get the identical watch under the "Synoke" brand but...."Synoke" or "Longbo"...weird names one way or the other.  I suppose we thought the same way when the name "Seiko" appeared...  not for long, though!  Same thing with "Hyundai"...once a weird name...now a household word.

I've often thought that I might make a career out of advising east asian companies on suitable or unsuitable names. Or correcting the grammar, spelling, and syntax in instruction booklets, some of which are difficult to make sense of. 

 

Synoke no! Synapse maybe! Synergy better! Manganese, Cyan, Tesseract, Limina just off the top of my head. No nicking my names Swatch!   :money:

Ha!  I agree.  You should check out some of the massive "fails" of attempted English signage in Asian nations at the site
