Greetings!  I've been interested in mechanical watches since 2000.  I live in Seattle and I'm switching careers to become a watchmaker.  I'm currently enrolled in the Norwest School of Horology.

I don't know how active I'll be on this site, but y'all want an introduction so Hi There! 🙂

welcome to the group it's a nice place to be when you're not in the classroom. Were open 24 hours a day here.

Then how is your experience been with the school?

It’s been great. Tomorrow is the start of my third course there.  I think we’re going to refurbish (clean, lube, and regulate, mostly) a watch that each of us have bought on eBay. Mine is a Gruen from the early 1960s.

And I’m reading and learning in my own at home. I’m amazed by all the tools!

Yes the problem with tools and watch repair. Somewhere in one of the books I have there's a comments of watch repair is very tool intensive. So yes he end up with lots and lots of tools conceivably. With never having enough of them there will always be one tool that you desire that you're not going to have for variety reasons.
