Movado Ermetaphon - outer case removal

What is the accepted way to remove the outer case from the Ermetaphon?

I've no idea what an 'Ermetaphon' is. Do you have some pics ?

I think you mean Ermetophon and if it needs work my suggestion would be to take it to someone.

What is wrong with it?   

  Does it not wind?   

  Does it  wind  only through the crown? 

Or, only by pressing the two halves?

Issue with the alarm?

The leather on the case is shot and I have a donor case to replace it

You'll need to insert a thin lever to release the clips as shown in the video around 5 minutes.

Andy, thank you for the link. Interesting video. The Movado uses a slightly different system and the Ermeto and Ermetophon use entirely different systems except for the rack and pinion winding which is similar in both. The Ermetophon has winding arms which link the case to the movement and serve to transmit the winding effort when the case opens and closes. I have taken apart/assembled both types but would like to hear from someone else who has also done one to compare notes. Thanks again for the help.

I thought from memory that it was just a click under the lip of the case but looks like I'm mistaken.

This is a rare, collectable much sought after,

rather pricy clock, which one wants to keep the integrity of.
