I bought an ugly little diver with a AS 1882/83 movement inside . There where so much oil on everything . What is the worst you have serviced?

The ugly little watch could be nice when finished though.

The last one, the Omega James Bond Seamaster with the 1120 calibre that I received in bits!

This is the worst I have serviced, but nothing to do with oil.

I have opened watches that were very dry and on the other extreme I opened one once that had so much oil in it that I had to clean the tray that I put the parts in after I was through. I am working on a Breitling right now that had so much oil that the entire plate was wet.

Had a few where there was excess oil, and/or grease from someones attempts to repair, or waterproof a watch.  Also come across many bone dry movements with dried up old oil.

WD 40 is always nightmare with clocks in a last ditch effort to get a clock going WD is sprayed. WD is a wax & so the clock needs a pre-clean before the actual clean.
