Intro & Help Request

Recommended Posts

Hello, new member here! Coming from Warrington (UK).

Keen watch lover and eager to learn how to bring some much loved watches back to life! My hands are not great so I am looking for a simple Dremel style method that could be a generic application. Thus far from a bit of research I am looking to try the following steps (ignoring thorough cleaning steps in-between):

Step 1. To initially buff out any scratches (nothing too deep), use some abrasive buffing wheels. And also use these for any satin finishing.

I have been reading up on compounds and to minimise the products I need (for working on gold, silver & steel watches), instead of using the popular Dialux solutions which I would require to purchase a number of compounds, I have seen some recommendation for Menzerna:

Step 2. I suppose this is effectively a pre-polish - using Menzerna P164 on some form of cotton/felt wheel.

Step 3. As a final polish - using Menzerna P175 on some form of cotton/felt wheel.

It would be good to hear if this method sounds okay, if the Menzerna products I have mentioned would work effectively in these steps and finally what would be the best mandrel bits for application of both stages 2 and 3?

Hopefully with a bit more knowledge and experience I can be more active in the community. Picture attached is the new play station 🙂

Many Thanks,

Garreth
