Disassembling Kelton / Timex automatic

Recommended Posts

The tabs that you have released are what hold the dial on to the movement, however you need to remove the seconds hand as well before that can happen.

You need to remove the autowind module by undoing the two screws that you an see through the holes in the rotor, then remove the crystal and everything will come out the front.

Because it didn't work. Unfortunately, I had to give up. This kind of watch is not made to be disassembled. I've since got other watches. I'm know trying to repair a FEF 290 movement 😀

too bad you gave up on it.  But, I understand that vintage Timex presents a different approach to repairs.  If I had to guess what was wrong with it I'd say the click spring was worn down.  Without having a NOS supply the replacement is very difficult.
