Are these the same company?

Were they once upon a time?

I had assumed they were "the same" but I had a coupon for one rejected by the other. So, I asked and here is the response that I got:

"ofrei.com and ottofrei.com are separate departments and act as different companies."

emphasis mine.

Apparently they're the same company or family. Ottofrei.com is oriented toward jewelers, ofrei.com is oriented towards watchmakers.

I thought it was odd to get a %5 discount coupon that I tried to use and was told: "Nope, that's not ours..." and yet it actually is the same company.

I suppose they can run their business however they want - it's just confusing to a dumb new kid...
