Greetings from New York

Hello Mark and all others near and far.  I'm currently a Paramedic and retired cop/Detective.  20 years ago I learned to play the bagpipes as they tend to go hand and hand with cops...particularly of Irish descent like myself.  Many cop funerals later I dove deeper into the piping world and apprenticed under a top American bagpipe maker and learned the machinist trade as it applies to instrument making.  Now, I have the itch to learn watchmaking so I'm finishing up module 3 of Mark's excellent course.  I'm still piping at cop funerals and ceremonies and in a successful rock band.   Pursuing the watch repair line with much enthusiasm going forward.   A friend owns a very successful jewelry shop here and he says he will throw as much work my way as I can handle.  He remarked that all the Doctors and other wealthy people who spent 10s of thousands on that Rolex didn't realize their watches need to be serviced regularly.  There's no watchmakers/repairmen within 200 miles of my location so I think I may have found a potential niche. I've been slowly acquiring the tools and resurrecting non-workers off EBay to cut my teeth on.  Enjoying it immensely.
