Hey everyone, happy to be here! (I actually didn’t realize that I wasn’t already a member, I’ve been reading this forum for so long.)

I’ve been a watch freak ever since I was about ten years old and received my first digital watch as a Christmas gift. My mind was fully blown when I got a Swatch Jellyfish at the age of 13 and was able to see the movement through the clear plastic case (quartz movement, but I was nonetheless impressed).

After many years as a “collector,” just buying and selling a ton of Rolexes, Omegas, JLCs, etc, I finally realized that that kind of engagement was too superficial to satisfy my passion for watches. One day I happened upon Mark’s YouTube video of a rusty Breitling (Valjoux 7750) restoration and I was hooked.

I have since completed all levels of the watchmaking courses offered at the Horological Society of New York as well as Mark’s online courses. I also devour any books and videos I can find.

For practical experience and learning I’ve begun to service and restore vintage Seikos and any watch with an ETA/Sellita movement (basically any watch that I can get parts for). I consider myself a neophyte and look forward to continued learning and engagement with all of you folks.

Apologies for the LONG hello message! Cheers,

Dave
