YouTube fascination

Recommended Posts

Hello.  Although I've had a fascination with clockwork since childhood, my first tentative baby steps into the world of horology are very recent.  I decided to make my attempt after watching YouTubers working on watch movements, which I found utterly engrossing; especially when, after a complete disassembly and clean, an old watch no longer working suddenly sprang back to life, the first stuttering independence of the balance making me want to cheer.  It was a feeling that made me want to become more than just an appreciative spectator.  I am only at the very beginning and was trying to remove the movement of an old Sekonda when I got stuck and did a google search which brought me to this website and gave me confirmation of a suspicion I had that the movement was removed from the front instead of from the back.  With this confirmation I had the confidence to proceed and managed to get the old movement out of the case.  And having found such a good source of information for my embryonic hobby, I decided I'd be likely to need help more than once, and joined up.

I'm hoping that any questions I ask may not be too ridiculously simple, but I'm really at the very start!

Welcome Eric, and thaks for the introduction! Your story will seem familiar to many of us, I'm sure. Here's hoping you find what you are looking for. There are a lot of very experienced people on here, who do not consider any question beneath them, so ask away (but use the search function first!).
