Hey guys

I have been trying to get this mainspring to attach to the arbour. First attempt went bad i tried to bend it gradually to fit but the bridle broke. Is there away of doing this .

Do i try again to bend the spring to fit arbour in the barrel? out the barrel?

This is the way they both came i mean i have not touched this one in the photo at all. All other springs on most other watches seem to be a bit nearedto the arbour if not touching  than this one.

Any ideas.

cheers

gary

if it's a blued steel spring the center part is usually soft you can usually close it when it's in the barrel. It's a modern white spring it shouldn't look like that at all if it does its defective.

then modern white spring is as you found out attempting to close the center or anything usually results in breakage. If you put something in the center when it's out of the barrel you can gently squeeze it and slowly close it if you're careful. But anything resembling bending of light spring is usually ends in disaster

Bending and wrapping pliers.

Having broken several springs trying to close the central coil, I've been looking for some of these pliers, small enough to use on wristwatch springs.

These are the smallest on Cousins, but are they small enough ?
