Oh I did enjoy watching that CB, what an incredible piece of horology! The centrifugal regulator for the chimes is so good it should have been made visible through the dial. :)

I agree Geo and the craftsmanship is astounding but like many top quality watches the finish quality & movement is hidden under its case.

It's telling to me that the computer does the rough work, but all the fine details and the finishing touches are manual.... Every time I see one of those, my jaw drops... And I have yet to see one for real.

I don't have money enough just for a hinge of the box it came in... :( and so complicated but it is not prepared for "summer time" auto adjust. :)

The more I Iook at it, the more similarities I see between this Patek and my 1966 Timex  ;).

Our younger son was 7 years with Patek in Geneva, among other things setting up a quality control facility.  During one lunchtime in their canteen I was introduced to one of their bods who did some of the most delicate assembly work. He was part time - a watchmaker early in the morning and a farmer who looked after his cows later in the day. There is a lesson to be learned here!

Incidentally the Patek film was run continuously in the window of a licensed Patek watchmaker's shop in Aachen last summer. It attracted quite a crowd; great publicity but not many takers.
