Hi, I'm relatively new to all this. I've always admired nice timepieces but more often than not would not entertain the idea of spending the money.

Right now some of the manufacturers I lust after are Tissot, Jaeger Lecoulture, Nomos, and despite the flak it gets, I'm quite a hipster and really like Shinolas.

One of my first nicer watches is a Shinola runwell with a turquoise dial. I really love that watch and find it good looking. I also really love that heft it has.

My reason for joining us because the movement in my watch has gone up, honestly I believe it was my fault because I was struggling with changing the battery. It had a tiny little retaining clip held in with an even tinier screw and I struggled getting that screw back in.

I will post a thread about this in the proper thread.

Oh and I'm thinking my next watch is going to be a Tissot Titanium pr100. Preferably with the anthracite dial.

Hello, from another relatively new person. You'll find yourself in pretty good company here. Everyone here seems quite friendly and patient with newcomers. And the veterans have some cool tricks up their sleeves. Have fun.

Hello and welcome to the forum. All is not lost with the watch post some pictures of the movement with the back off Screws and battery clamps can be bought. so like Lazarus we MAY be able to raise the dead .

Oh my thank you! That's such a relief to hear. And I do appreciate the hospitality here! I was kind of half expecting to get accosted for this watch since I discovered after purchasing or there was a lot of... seediness around shinola. I still very much loved this watch and to be honest with the exception of this Corona ordeal shinola's service has been very great.

Looks a solid built case and bracelet. Worst case senario would be to replace the movement with a new one. I read the caliber No off of it and search for one online, probably around 20 bucks or so.

Lovely! Thank you it is a nice hefty watch which I appreciate. I used to wear this every day when I worked in construction and it never got anything more than very light scratches on the stainless. Easy enough to polish out. And the band on it lasted well over a year before it was replaced free of charge by shinola which was awesome! I am really hard on watch bands apparently.

I did see what you were talking about it looks like a 713 caliber Ronda movement is really affordable.

I have never replaced the movement in a watch, if I buy the new movement is it safe to assume that I could get walk through the process from somebody here?

I'll also go and check if there's a good YouTube rabbit hole I can go down.

You can count on a step by step walkthrough here. Not much to replacing this movement.

Ronda quartz are quality inexpensive swiss made, robotic assembly (I think). Usually material houses have em in stock, you may find em on amazon, Cousins, esslinger ... etc.

Hi The movement is a ronda 715 and can be purchased complete minus dial and hands for around £12 to 15 . I would think redily available from Jules Borel and Esslingers in the states. The movement you have as you said the screw has gone missing and the negative contact tongue looks bent. You can get assortments of battery clamp screws so may be try that first but straighten the negative contact. Attached is the tech sheet for the 715.

You know, possessing sheet brass in varying thicknesses, I have been known to fabricate battery contacts/clamps. I had to do it for one of my daughter's Disney Princess quartz watches, as well as numerous small electronic toys and flashlights. I have four daughters who are hard on things, and three inherited the tinkering bug from me. So parts sometimes go missing.

If you can't get another clamp, and really want to keep your movement, feel free to talk to me. But I do think a new clamp is find-able.
