Ha ha. This guy really cracks me up. I’ve watched many of his you tube videos and he’s pretty much the same in all of them. Such a funny guy to listen to, but fascinating at the same time. Interesting he never seems to lift out the balance and cock complete. Perhaps this is a hairspring preservation technique?

I dont know, but it seems to me that the engraving is much more precise than one might expect from a watch sold on the american frontier back around 1880. Granted, it could have been ordered that way from the factory.There is also something about the font that looks more 1980 than 1880.

@jdrichard, watched your latest video, it was great. The lathe is awesome. I'm a machinist by trade and machining ANYTHING as small as a balance staff is incredibly nerve wracking! BTW, your work space is clean and tidy, and your hat is bad ass! Good job!

I still think my workspace is a mess, but that’s me. Thanks for the hat comment. A gift from my dad 25 years ago as I do play the blues. I’ll wear a different hat next time. Again, thanks for the comment and please stay safe.
