I apologise, but an error has slipped into the assembly sequence of pictures. For detailed info, please read this post:

OneDrive Disassembly pictures here (please sort by name in ascending order)

OneDrive Assembly pictures here (please sort by name in ascending order)

When I first started out trying to service and repair watches, I took a picture of every step, and I needed those pictures as I didn’t have the knowledge to deduce where the parts should go, how they worked, and how they interacted. Now that I’ve gained some experience, I no longer need all those pictures, but I still need some pictures. For example, it’s very convenient to have pictures of the train of wheels or certain parts of a date complication, and so on. Anyway, I enjoy taking these pictures as I go, and I organise them and keep them on my OneDrive for future use.

For this project, servicing my brother’s Atira Plana housing an ETA 2472, I felt it would be fun, interesting, and perhaps even useful not only to take the pictures but to edit the pictures, adding visual and textual instructions. These pictures are made for my personal use and are not intended as a tutorial or to tell other people how to service an ETA 2472. The pictures simply document how I went about it. Nevertheless, I guess others may find my work useful, so I’m happy to share it. There are many ways to service a watch, and I’m still learning. That said, I do follow the practices taught on watchfix.com, and they work very well for me!

Here's a post with links to some of my other service walkthroughs on WRT:

Quality pix, excellent presentation, good clean and more.

First time I see type of movement ring used in selfwinder.

Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant. I can see a close up of the parts I fitted in my service of a 2472 movement in your pics. The date wheel sticking issue is still there and viewing your strip down has given me the incentive to try and find the cause. Wish I had a decent camera so I could take pics like these. Well done thanks for sharing. What camera did you use?

Thank you! It's nothing special really. Just an iPhone 6s with a $10 macro lens. For background I use a gel cushion. I don't use a tripod but I do support my hands against the table and I often take several pictures while slightly moving the camera to and fro the part to get the best possible focus. For light I have a well lit room from the ceiling (and during the day from two large windows two meters from my left side) and then I move around the work lamp until it "looks OK/good".

Good luck with the "date wheel sticking issue"!

Thanks VWatchie

I am attempting the date wheel issue this weekend hopefully 16-11-2019. I will take some close up pics with my iPhone to see if the pics are as good. If I find the fault I'll share it. I bought a 10 x zoom for my iPhone camera, so wish me luck. Once again thank you for the detail

Kind regards

Good luck Colditz! Could the date wheel somehow be skewed? When taking the pictures try moving the light around. I've realized it makes all the difference. I do hope you find the fault. It's so valuable sharing this information!

IMG_1709.JPG.a549b1191c87a279b7ab7feace7c2721.JPGMy apologies, but an error had slipped into my picture assembly sequence. Now rectified!

The problem was that I replaced the setting lever screw after I replaced the barrel bridge, when in fact the setting lever screw must be replaced before the barrel bridge. Doing it in the wrong order "works" but it will make the oscillating weight slightly foul the head of the screw and it will make it impossible to remove the stem without the setting lever detaching from the setting lever screw.

Make sure you don't miss this during assembly!

Just curious; did you get a chance to look at the date wheel issue again? If so, I do hope you were successful in finding the source of the problem and can share it with us!?

The calendar works of the 2472 is the most sophisticated I've come across so far with its instant date change where the date wheel doesn't move one bit until it flips over in a blink. So fascinating I recorded a video of it here.

Hi Vwatchie

I am afraid I have not yet had the opportunity to look yet. We have had some really good news and I am about to be a grandfather for the fourth time so lots of things going on in the home preparing for the new arrival at our abode and my daughters. Soon as I get a day clear I will be investigating and taking pictures. Thank you for your interest and the video showing the speed of date change.

HI VWatchie

Just to let you know not yet had the time to check the date wheel issue. Soon as I get some free time I'll have a go at it and I'll keep you posted.

Cheers all the best

Thanks, I'm still curious to see if you can figure it out and what's causing it.

Same to you!

(BTW, I believe this is my post no. 500. So, from now on I'm probably and rightly going to be dubbed a "Super WRT Addict". These "titles" really doesn't mean anything except that I've posted 500 times. Anyway, hurray to me! ;))

Congrats VWatchie 500 posts I've got a long way to go!

Thank you Colditz, but it's not the number of posts that counts, it's the content!

Totally agree VWatchie it is the content and as far as I can see you have surpassed what can be classified as quality content. Thank you.

What I meant to say is I have a long way to go before I reach your level.

Is it just me, or are the pictures no longer available?

Due to the age of this post it would appear the server where they're stored has started dumping photos to make space.

Those photos were linked from OneDrive, they were not internally stored on WRT. They were deleted there at the source, or permissions changed to prohibit public view, or prevent hot linking.

Are you sure because those don't look like OneDrive Links

I see a lot of URLs pointing to 1drv.com which appears to be a CDN for OneDrive.

@VWatchie does make available a lot of stuff previously using one drive so maybe he can have a look. It could easily be something as simple as default permissions have changed with a routine update.

Long story short, I reinstalled OneDrive on my computer, and I suspect that's when things went south. Anyway, I have updated the first post in this thread with links to the disassembly and assembly pictures.
