They are interference fit, assembled together with a press. This is very similar to the seiko mainspring barrel. Unless anyone knows how, my assumption has been that the component is sealed for life and cannot be easily served. Regards. Deggsie

Damn ..wish I see n this post before I went nuclear...I tried to get it off as mark did in his as1900 video.. rounded the bottom a little, but was able to straighten it out... read your post and it worked beautifully...

You can open that type of barrel using a case knife. You are meant to replace the whole thing, but due to stocks, dwindling this is the only option. Seiko barrels are the same. Back in the 70's & 80's Seiko suggest you replace the barrel with a completely new unit every (I think) 5 or 7 years.
