Chrono pusher gasket placement

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I've been working on replacing the gaskets on the pushers of my 6139 and I can't help thinking that there's got to be a better way of doing it this! Im using wood sticks and tiny screwdrivers stretching to gaskets a bit so that they go over into the slot.

I'm hoping somebody with more experience would give some advice. There's got to be a tool for this! I just have not been able to find it online.

Thank you!

JG

This how i do . Have an pusher which i put in a drill vise from an old lathe. Makes it easier to hold it.

From this to this. Just simple  wiggle  it lite and i gets on fairly easy.Without any tools. Some silicon on the rod and puchers and it work very good. DSC08552.thumb.JPG.ec9164b11d6d8b4a2f41bebaea02b699.JPG

Have an old drill chuck to hold the pusher with. Gets a little sturdier. DSC08549.thumb.JPG.31cbc92a52f40f2b7392281c917aa9f2.JPGDSC08548.thumb.JPG.4925c90142a89e12d75d95fe8c885375.JPG

Try this

1. Find a ball pen refill or similar tube that goes over the the pusher.

2. Roll gasket onto tube

3. Slide tube over pusher

4. Roll gasket into place

Brilliant idea!

I'm sure once mastered it changes the game on gasket placement.

However, rolling the gasket on to the refill tube proved to be a challenge yet to be resolved in my hands. In fact, I used a hairspring hang pin which fits flush on the refill tube. I loaded the gasket on the the pin and then attempted to transfer the gasket on to the tube. The "step" was too big and so I filed the tip of te refill tube and it seemed possible but still couldn't transfer the gasket!

I'm sure that once on the refill tube it will be a breeze to deploy in its groove.

Thanks for the great idea though!!

I don't have a vise large enough for the button but this idea of using an old drill chuck is fantastic!

Thank you!!
