Hello from Newcastle!

Hello.

I'm Guy and I'm from Newcastle, although growing up I lived up and down the country. I'm a member on SCWF where I post mostly and also Wrist Sushi. I also sometimes browse TZ forums, though I'm not very active there really. I've been slowly progressing with building up a small collection of vintage and somewhat modern Seiko, mostly divers at the moment, over the past few years and wish I'd started sooner!

I've really enjoyed seeing Mark's YouTube videos which have helped me a lot towards actually attempting to service a few movements and tackle restoring the odd worse for wear piece. I have tried my hand on a 6105b, 7s26c and a 7009a aswell as trying to relume hands and a 6105 dial and at the moment I have 4 Seiko 7548-7000s I'm trying to fix up.

I really want to get to a point where I have the confidence to tackle these movements sufficiently well and know that I've oiled and tested the parts correctly, which I know is a long way off. But I hope to learn a lot here as I have done on SCWF and WR from many great members

Anyway, that's about all and I'm glad to be here as I had some issue signing up a while back.

Best regards,

Guy

Hello Guy and Welcome from me in Wideopen,

I think this forum will cater for your needs, the professional members are friendly and generally not opinionated but we all have our favourite watches and methods which we share and occasionally have a laugh as well. As a hobbyist / tinkerer I have found everyone willing to help out when you are in a fix with a repair or service. You mentioned oiling and there are plenty of postings on that subject and a few members that have really extensive knowledge via their work on oils and viscosity etc. It is expensive stuff as you have probably found out already and Mark has posted about the subject as well, a trace in the forums should produce results.

Cheers,

Vic

Thank you. Yeh I've been browsing a few topics here over the last few months or so and I recognise a few names from elsewhere. Vic nice to have someone local I can send a load of stuff to to fix! ;)

Thanks all. I have been super busy and I have a project lined up soon so I'll be more likely posting about how I get on. My first 6139A is to be tackled......
