Hi everyone, my name is Den and I am new to horology, I have an old pocket watch, an Ingersol that belonged to my grandfather and it wont run unless its on its face so I thought I would have a go at fixing it, so I am looking at loads of videos and reading books at the moment and have ordered loads of tools so I can strip down and rebuild the watch.

||I look forward to partisipating in the forums.

Hi Den,

Welcome to the forum! I hope you'll enjoy it. I also hope you find the information you are looking for...if you don't find it, just ask and I'm sure someone will provide!

For now, I must tell you that if you are new to working in watches, first practice in a movement other than the one you cherish. The first watch is most of the time a sacrificial one: it gladly gives its life so the others can live! :)

Cheers,
