I use the classic dual lens magnifier attached to reader glasses. I keep both eyes open. My left eye is dominant and that is the side where the magnifier is attached. My right eye defers to the left I guess. -
You should try to keep it open, learn to use both eyes to switch between normal and magnified at will.

Daft question, but when using a loupe, do you close the other eye, or do you keep it open, e.g. like when using a rifle scope?

@Jansh Did you replace the mainspring? Did you hand or machine cleaned? Sometimes dirty pinion leaves go unnoticed. Fault in escapement, any or combination of the following, -heavy pallet lock on escape teeth or damage therein, - bent pivots, dirty jewels in balance setting ,,,etc . Actually most poor condition in escapement , out of adjust / hairspring problems , dirt , rubbing parts.

Wow, that's a new one! I wonder if someone took the hairspring off the balance, then put the balance back from the wrong side?? (Or one of the scam youtube videos, such as how to make a watch run backwards or similar 😃
