New Haven I serviced yesterday...testing today

No significant issues to overcome.  Interesting to see what previous clockmakers did to this thing though.  For some crazy reason the pivot for the regulator shaft (mounted with a screw) was cut so that the screw did not have to be removed to remove the plate.  Why? 

I did not plan ahead and buy a mainspring winder, so I had to hack one together.  It worked, but I have a winder on order.

This movement was caked with dust and grime...pretty now.

You will come across all sorts of stupid stuff that others have done. One I remember was some idiot used a file to make the winding holes and center wheel hole bigger because the screws that held the movement were not fixed tight in the case so he moved the movement which made it out of line with the key holes and the center wheel for the hands He didn't bother to fill the old screw holes. So it ended up with these bloody great holes in the dial.
