Hello all,

i hope you’re doing great and happy new year to all of you!

I’m trying to fix a vintage Omega I just purchased. The watch and movement are in an overall good condition. I will just ask for a smooth polishing on some parts of the case and will gold plate it again.

I am just trying to find a new glass for it and want to make sure I order the right one. As I don’t want for you to do all the work for me, I tried to find the information by myself. Here what I arrived to:

the watch is a 14714-4-SC. Hence, if I read the forum correctly, the only number interesting is 14714 for the case model.
i found out that the glass needed is the 062PN1055 GLASS PLEXI D30.35 H3.8.

could you please confirm that to me ? And maybe give me some website to order it from? I cannot find it anywhere.

You’ll find a picture of the watch enclosed!

thanks a lot guys!

Have a read of our pinned topic below. It contains all the answer you may eventually receive here, and some more.

That being said, in the interim you may fit a generic one, and replace with an original if and when you can get on.

You realize this is an impossible task? In order to tell if that's the right crystal we have to more or less go through the same steps you do so basically we have to do your work. Other then if we did the same work we might come up with the same conclusion that would be good.

Are you really going to gold plate the case?

Then I would be really curious as to where you came up with that?

One of the interesting problems with omega case numbers are there not super specific?

What I mean by that is for instance your case number comes up for five separate cases? Although one of the cases has a sapphire crystal so that's definitely not yours. Fortunately you gave us a picture and a description of the case because you need that to get the rest of it may be. To your case choices for your number are two types of I'm guessing two tone cases that have a gold colored ring and I'm guessing the cases usually stainless steel. Then there is the stainless steel case and the 18 karat gold plate which I assume is yours.

Then there is the number discrepancy? Your crystal number doesn't appear to go in your case? Those in a whole bunch of other cases it just doesn't seem to go in yours although it's a really big list so even though I did a search it might be better and I just didn't see?

Then the crystal number I get for your case and the description is below. It also brings up a minor issue of the other three cases have a different crystal? GLASS PLEXI D30.35 H3.8 REF 062PN1112. Which is interesting because size wise it corresponds to your crystal. This becomes one of the problems where we don't get update memos as to why things are different the gold plated case might not be able to handle a bigger crystal perhaps as it's probably gold plated brass to be a softer case and the rest of them. But that's just a wild speculation on my part.

So for instance if it's in 18 karat gold plated case you're crystal would be 062PN1063 GLASS PLEXI D29.95 H3.7

Then there is the other problem even if you have a number you going to have to find the crystal you're probably to get stuck with a generic. You might build a find one on eBay perhaps or fall the suggestions above of where to look.

That would also be helpful if you took the old Crystal out as to allow us to see if it has a metal ring inside which I doubt. Normally if there's a metal ring in different colors the crystal numbers will change to reflect at but it's not. This means you probably take just about any round crystal that's about the right height. Then when the crystals out of the case you can measure the inside of the case And the crystal and get an idea of what size it may or may not be

Ok first of all, thanks a lot for such an incredible answer. I really do appreciate the time you took to answer it and with so many useful information !

im not going to hold plat it myself. I found a service in Paris that not that expensive. Do you think it’s a bad idea?

concerning the glass, I thought I found the right number browsing through forums. But as I did not have your knowledge about it, i made a full of myself 🙂 moreover I made a mistake as the ref is 14714-61-SC. I also managed to remove the back case to see it.

I managed to remove it. You will find a picture at the end of the message. And no, there is no gold ring around it.
I’d say you are full on with the 062PN1063 GLASS PLEXI D29.95 H3.7 as it’s almost 30mm. I’ll try

I’ll use the links from the other answers to try to find the right one.

thanks a lot for both of you. Always nice to see people like you sharing your knowledge like that!
