Hello everyone. I have a Chinese 6497 movement (Seagull ST36) with a broken hairspring. I can’t seem to find a replacement anywhere online. There are plenty of replacements for 2800 series (Seagull ST21). There also 46940 balance wheels available which look similar.

My questions are pretty dumb. Can I use either of these in my ST36? Also, does anyone know if ST36 balance wheels are available anywhere? Sorry to trouble everyone but I’m new here.

I don't know anything about parts compatibility or availability, but would it not be less risky and only a litlle more expensive to replace the whole movement?

Yes, you are quite correct. I just thought it might be interesting to give this movement a new life, haha.

Is this a watch or just the movement?

As said Chinese movements are cheap, however, what to do if the movement isn't cheap or parts to it are no longer available?

information and parts are in short supply regarding chinese watches, therefore as Klassiker said replacement is the least painful way

Thanks for the information.
