UnHommeQuiDort
Hello all, i tried searching for this but I couldn't see a relevant post - please link me if I missed the right one I'm working on several FHF 96/96n movements that I've picked up in charity shops - teaching myself how to fully dismantle, clean reassemble etc - and the dials they came with were pretty hideous. I'd like to swap them out for something else, but try as I might, I can't seem to find much in the way of info on dials in general. I'd like to know: Firstly: Are there certain dial sizes (like the distance between/orientation of the pins) that determine what will fit a certain movement? Is this info available online anywhere? Secondly: Is there a store online that sells generic/used dials? I've seen some places that will sell stuff for use with particular Seiko/ETA movements, which makes me think that I need to find specific things to fit the moments I've got. And there's a few watch part stores that sell boxes of old dials but "for steam punk purposes only". cheers in advance
Nucejoe
FHF 96 and ST96 and fhf ST 96, were used in many brands, if lucky you might find a second hand genuine dial. I got me two new/ unused aftermarket sets of SS cases+dials+ hands+crown+ crystal about two months ago which was all the seller had, I am sure you can find aftermarket pieces. Try sellers from India as ST96 is still manufactured there. Good luck pal.
Tudor
Perhaps some dial blanks, and Burgeon plat top feet, which can be epoxied on?
yankeedog
I have often pondered this same question. But as far as I can figure the aftermarket for dials other than seiko ETA miyota and ronda movements is non existant. You should be able to repurpose dials with a bit of experimentation.
