Hi

working on a helvetia 82c and the lower balance pivot has come off. I have tried applying it back again but it seems loose.

Whats the best method of securing it. squeeze the lower balance pivot so it grips or just line it up on pivot and push. or something else?

cheers

gary

Hi Gary    I take it you mean the roller table has come off   If so, as Marc says its a friction  fit onto the staff. The impulse jewel is fitted at right angles to the balance cross arms as per the picture.  Unless its been replaced or the balance spring has been adjusted.

No super glue cuz you no longer can remove the roller, super glue ruins the metal of staff and the roller, rust developes and welds them together in couple years.

If the hole in roller table is too large then you got the wrong roller, which even if roller did stay on staff, it wont match with pallet jewels and you get no escapement.

Nail polish is harmless. epoxy glue works.
