Do you oil a pin pallet?

Hi All

I'm still a beginner and trying to restore an EB 8810.  Would I oil the pin pallet "stone" as I would a real stone?

I don't suppose you have a timing machine? Always nice when learning to try experiments like running the watch with no oil then oiling seeing what happens. escapement's tend to be high friction they definitely have to be lubricated, yes you lubricate the escapement.

Oil a few of the teeth of the escape wheel, by doing that oil will attach its self to the pallet pins, and it will prevent the oil from sitting at the bottom of the pallet pins.

You will find some used pin pallets wont run or run little and poor which is due to wear. Oil escape teeth and the thing runs like a watch. I have never seen one under microscope to see the wear on pins or teeth but am sure its there. Start with the smallest amount of oil and add(after few hours of running) very sparingly Good luck.
