hi  I have a imperialto wristwatch, recently the second finger stops, then sweeps for about 5 seconds then stops again then sweeps  again, this as only happened recently ?any advice please,

It may just be something as simple as a slack hand.

What movement does it have, quartz or mechanical?

Does it slip every 5 seconds on a regular basis, or is it completely random?

Does it occur at the same place on the dial every time?

Does the watch still keep time even with this problem?

hi its a quartz , it does it all round the face, losing time , but had a new battery about 9months ago ?

Hi Chris..

 

This is the 'end of life' indicator, time to change your battery again.

 

Nine months is not normal.. you should get a years worth easily. You could've gotten a dud battery, or one that been in the drawer too long. Or it could be the watch needs a service.

I bet they fitted an alkaline battery not a silver oxide one.
