  1. Finally my eyes are able to focus close up! Going to start with the easy bit first [emoji9] The hands look aweful. Supposed to be white with lume. Off with the hands. Into some Acetone they go. Almost clean. Once completely clean, going to use matt white Humbrol enamel. Then for the lume, experimenting with some clear nail varnish and extra fine glomania green lume powder. I gave it a two minute charge with my 300 lumen LED torch at 11pm last night. This morning at 7.30 it was still visible [emoji106] . Pic taken after a 20 sec blast. More will follow. Just warming up the Humbrol so it mixes easier. To apply it....... old mini flatblade screwdriver or pegwood?

  4. Apparently its going to be windier tomorrow. Don't worry about it, even if it rains it'll do no harm in the short term.

  7. Make sure there's two of you if you get up that ladder in strong winds - one to steady it. I've known experienced builders take a tumble, which is why so many more use scaffolding services these days. H&S and all that... Strong winds down here in Sussex as well, turning from sunshine to showers and back again in a matter of minutes.

  8. Hello, I just aquired a movement from ebay for $50 I dont know if I got a deal but the movement works and looks very nice. The dial is a fludo and has some wear that I intend to get reprinted. Can someone verify that this is a Landeron 51 just by looking at it? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

  11. Thank you Geo. I will heed your advise. DJT2, how is R2D2? :D Sorry DJT2. I couldn't resist. But I'm sure that wasn't the first time you've heard that comment. However, thank you for your advise. I'm off to Amazon.com USA.

  12. Good set of tweezers that don't break the bank? Sorry, but no such animal exists. Cheap tweezers aren't good, and good tweezers aren't cheap. I only use one pair of tweezers for everything; except hairsprings of course ... a pair of Gold Plated Brass Dumont #4's that I've custom shaped just the way I like them. Brass tweezers don't ping parts like steel, never become magnetized, have a lovely soft free, and I never have to worry about marking parts with them. I've been using them 8hrs a day, 5 days a week for 7months, and at the most I have to give them a light dressing once a week. ... I will cry when they are worn out :(, and they will receive a royal burial with full military honours.

  13. Use an oiler to carefully apply a tiny drop on the back of the marker then carefully place it on the dial. Don't place the glue on the dial first, as you my get a small string of the glue across the dial as you draw the oiler away. If you gently place the marker vertically on a piece of Rodico, you'll be able to apply the glue to the back quite easily. Doing it this way it is still easy to pick it up with tweezers without having to get into contortions to place it accurately. A good thing about thing about using this glue, is any excess can be cleaned off with alcohol.
