  3. So I may not quite understand what you're asking as far as I know with most hairsprings the regulator pins or as the Swiss call them curb pins should be as close as possible to the hairspring without grabbing. Then the problem of specifically where did I get my information from is far too many sources too many years so as you're asking for an exact specific I grabbed a book from the shelf. The book is titled Watch Adjustmentv by Hans Jendritzki. I've scanned the relevant paragraph and attached the images.

  5. Here's a picture of my evolving shop. I've also got shelves full of parts (not shown). Need to do something about the floor. Would welcome suggestions. Thinking about some indoor/outdoor carpet.

  6. Just installed. Very high quality - didn't want to spend the crazy amounts on the Bergeon version.

  8. Sorry for the confusion with wording. The problem with over coils is there are literally hundreds of different styles. So I just simplified the hairspring itself should be flat and the over coil should take the hairspring up to the regulator pins. In one of the problems were having when evaluating hairsprings is when the hairspring is out of the watch because that is not where the problem is. We really need clear pictures of the hairspring in the watch which many times is almost impossible. Which can make evaluating a situation equally impossible.

  9. My guess is the platform escapement is a Swiss lever and far too modern for a antique clock so the sellers claim that the clock is all original is untrue ( a blatant lie actually ).

  10. Hi Geo! Passed through Perth last week en route to Linlithgow from Pitlochry after a week in the west highlands at Glenelg. I did wave!

  11. I was doing work for a store and the owner used to complain about my pricing. He said heatedly that all you have to do I'd put the whole movement (even the dial) in the cleaner and add oil to it. Then I recalled a job I did for him and the pocket watch was full of oil. Idk why, but I now have the feeling he tried to do it himself, lol! Needless to say, he is now looking for a new watch guy! I am no longer being cussed at daily! Diamondslayer
