Eco drive e760 module

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I’ve got a citizen eco drive fitted with a E760 perpetual calendar module   It was dead and the second hand positioned at around 7 o’clock ( needs recharging indication) sat it in the sun for hours with no change. Fitted a new capacitor and after hours in the sun it will mark time with hour and minute hand but second hand is still at 7. Looking at the citizen info for this module it does require a long charge and has no quick start feature, but it’s been ages now I would of thought the second hand would be moving in 2 second jumps at the very least. I’ve also performed an all reset but even this doesn’t change anything.

Im wondering if there is anything else I can do or if it’s just a case of the module being US

your thoughts and advice most appreciated

Does the seconds hands moves to 7h or just stays there when you perform reset? In the latter case that would indicate something is wrong or stuck with its motor and/or position sensor, rather than truly indicating low charge.

Yes it just stays at 7 , that being the case is there anything I could try or is it a new module required ?

thanks Andy

You could try taking apart the entire module to clean and lubricate it, however there would be no guarantee that it would fix it, and if you don't have the necessary skills you may end breaking or loosing some parts. Not that it would be very serious on something that is faulty anyway.

BTW I suspect that Citizen doesn't sell spare modules and they may even not have one even if sent to them for repair.

Many thanks for that , probably best left then I haven't really played about with quartz normally just replaced the module as its usually  easier and cheaper, Cousins do the module but at around £75 + vat p&p etc i don't think its really worth doing , the watch isn't anything special.

Thanks again Andy

If you work with quartz watches gets yourself a "line free" box, discussed in various places on this forum. It could actually work in this case too.

Funnily enough I have got one of those and did try to spin it up on it very briefly but didn't go to mad incase it did more harm than good but nothing ventured nothing gained I shall give it another blast , whats the worst that could happen lol

I will give it a whizz and report back

The hour and minute hand spin round freely but the second hand doesn't budge , the seconds are pulsing on the boxes sensor but no movement at all from the seconds hand not even a twitch

    • if you're trying to keep track of conversations scattered all over the message board emails are an absolute must.   looking at the bell icon on the top of the page versus the emails today it looks like I got the correct amount of emails. So making some minor change based on the one of the images up above I started getting notifications again. But at times I still have a suspicion that something isn't quite right. I have some feeling that the message board may delay sending emails until something so seems to be a long delay between when you get your emails just a weird feeling things aren't quite right oh  and then even though I do seem to be getting emails I no longer get notifications of personal messages I don't find that out until I arrived at the message board where I'm pretty sure I used to get notifications of those two. So something is definitely changed on the message board. then for everyone not getting emails you do want to check your spam folder. I have found that sometimes were open up an email the system I use warns me that it thinks the email is evil and bad and I have no idea why he thinks some of the emails are and some are not. But this is actually the program I use not the email system which also has a mind of its own as to what it considers spam so you should always check your spam folder.
