I’m a beginner when it comes to watch repairs, but there is something that doesn’t add up when I’m putting together this AS 1188 after clearing it.

The escape wheel seems too short. It doesn’t quite reach up to 4th wheel, or to the bridge.

My assumption is that it did do this before I took it apart. I’m not 100% on this since I didn’t check it at that time, but the watch was running at a decent rate (+90s/d) and I would think it could do that as it sits now. What am I missing?

I admit that I might have bent the bridge a bit when I was pegging out the jewels, but still, the escape sits very low. Is it just a worn down pivot on the escape wheel?

It looks like the wheel is sitting against the plate and it shouldn’t be. It looks like the jewel is allowing the staff to go through past the pinion.

Are you sure it doesn't have a jewel plate like this only on the bottom of the lower plate.

Oh, feel a bit silly now. I hadn’t fitted the jewel plate... now it looks much better ;)
