Hi Everyone,

I aquired a vintage Certina Vintage Watch - Dont got a photo right now but its basically the same as this one: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Watch-CERTINA-WATERKING-215-Calendar-Cal-25-661-Hand-Wind-Gold-Plated-G20-Swiss/263411558215?hash=item3d548d6747:g:Gd4AAOSwc-tY4jKd

The watch looked good and i was just cleaning all the parts to get i lubed etc. When opening the main spring housing there was a lot of old grease and dirt.I carefully removed the spring. During cleaning of the housing I recognized that the end of the spring was allready broken off and was sticking with old grease on the wall.

Now, I need a new spring, but Cousinuk tells me its an Obsolete part, so I cannot order there. There is exactly one on ebay which is asking for 36 EUR + Shipping from australia. https://www.ebay.de/itm/CERTINA-25-651-25-66-25-661-SWISS-MADE-REPLACEMENT-MAINSPRINGS/122698042212?hash=item1c915f8b64:m:mZ2H0-G6wFzHrP7ufrFjjTA

Can someone point me to a direction where i could source maybe a cheaper mainspring? I dont need a specific brand, but just want to finish the restore of this watch. Nivaflex 2975-1 is the partnumber on the original nivaflex. And the Certina Movement is a hand-wound 25-661.

Any help is appreciated.

Greetings

Max

If you measure the old spring, height, thickness, length, and what type of bridle I'll have a look at my stock, I have a ton of NOS watch main springs.

This is what I have and you're welcome to them if you want. The best match is the permotone, just a half inch shorter but otherwise correct, and it's alloy so no rust

Well it would help if I looked for the correct strength, for some reason I thought it was .10, I'll look again, just my memory letting me down again.

The Bestfit 310E is pretty close at 1.2x.11x9.5

This is the only other one I have, it's slightly stronger and only 1/2" shorter so barrel space shouldn't be a problem. It is not an alloy spring though, brown/blue steel.

Thank you all for your time. I am very happy with the results. You helped me much. I didnt know that i could slighty shift to another spring, this makes it easier.

@khunter i will send you a private messsage.

Thank you
