does anyone know which citizen model the hmt sona is based?

I don't think that HMT based any of their watch models on any Citizen models as such.

However, I do know that HMT used the Citizen Cal:0201, made under licence and re-branded, in a lot of their 17J manual wind watches.

Post a pic of the movement and I may be able to identify it.

Bernie,

comparing your pics with my own Ciitizen 0201 it looks as though there are some minor differences in the shape of the plates and machined recesses, but all the key reference points look the same.

These are Citizen 0201 for comparison;

The part you are after is the hour wheel. If you measure the dimensions of yours I can tell you how they compare with the Citizen.

HI Marc it seems to be 6mm diameter and the pipe? 1mmx1mm.thats as close as i could get as my digital vernier is on the blink.Bernie.

just noticed the keyless works look a little different!5a33f0d588eb3_2017-12-1515_42_41.thumb.jpg.ae5a04598a4970d64c45197cf4755e56.jpg

OK, I'm not sure that the hour wheels are interchangable then. On my Citizen 0201's the hour wheel is 6.55mm diameter (32 teeth), with a 1.53mm OD pipe, 1.27mm tall. I have also just opened up my HMT Jawan which does have the HMT version of the 0201 movement and the plates are identical to the Citizen, so I'm not at all sure.

As for the keyless works, have you had them apart? It looks to me that the parts I've edged in blue might be in upside down. If you flip them over and add the missing parts I think they will look the same.

ok, this link shows a HMT movement with the same shape plates as yours;

http://jayprashanth.blogspot.co.uk/2008/02/indian-mechanical-watches.html

and identifies it as a HMT 0231

Ranfft;

http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&2&2uswk&HMT_0231

says that the 0231 is a copy of the Citizen 1802 BUT.... the pic he shows has the same shape plates as my 0201, and the dial side is totally different, so somewhat confusing.

one posibility is that HMT used different shaped plates at different times for the same calibre and it is a 0201, can you remeasure your hour wheel, make sure that the calipers are properly zeroed first just to be sure.

One thing that Ranfft does say is that the cal number may be on the case back. Also have a good look over the main plate and make sure that there are no numbers there.

OK,ON THE CASE BACK IT DOES SAY 0231.i get around 6.40 dia.the other meas.are similar but like i said my calipers are playing up.as for the keyless works you are probably right as i copied the routine off my phone camera,so that can be soon sorted.thanks for that.the hour wheel would probably have had 32 teeth before i sheared them off as i counted the remainder and the gap would allow for those missing!B.

    • I am sure you agree that,    " physical reality is actually made up of structured information "  which defines the states energy may  realize in prescribed  states.      Universe is committing suicide then most of its functions stops, but what we know as  gravitation remains, thus ( as he concludes)  gravitation proves of no essence  for actualization  previous functions universe used to work according to.   No doubt mathamtic systems man has deviced  is basic and not neccessarilty correct . But if universe is informational,  its also computational.   Then we have something thats has no essence and computation systems indicates it as virtual.
    • Oh that is lovely, thank you. I also just cracked the crystal and lost one of the shock absorbers, so its gone in the separate baggy of 'maybe-one-day' 😄 I did learn the valuable lesson of not disassembling the shock absorbers. My next one is a Zaria 1509B. I think this one I'll take a bit more time with cause I'll need to source a couple of bits. It's also scary teeny.
    • More data on the oscillation tests: Vertical: 15-20 seconds…Abysmal Dial up: 1 min 15-30 seconds Any thoughts @nevenbekriev @JohnR725? My next thought is to oil the balance jewels to see if that helps. It’s certainly one major thing left that I haven’t done.
    • Hi. Once the pins have been withdrawn the brace let comes apart, never had a problem with these.
