Hello,

I have an unusual problem. I received this movement with twin ETA 2671 movements. I have the movement holder but no case. I can replace the stem and crowns as the movements are practically new as is the dial and hands. Does anyone have any feedback on a possible replacement case or information on where I might have something like this made? The movements are from a Cuervo y Sobrino Prominente dual time wrist watch. Thanks for any information!

Maybe try getting into contact with the manufacturer and see if there's a solution to that ? Unlikely but it's worth a try.

If you could get a 2nd watch you could get the case 3D scanned and then 3D printed (somewhere where they do a lot of solid quality professional 3D printing) or, I guess, get it done the old way but you still need the dimensions.

I bought a rectangular watch dial and once I had the dimensions I found a donor automatic watch on ebay for about £20. I had to ask the seller for the dimensions and it is a perfect fit. Its for personal use and I will never sell it. What are the dial dimensions?

I think 3-D printing might be a viable solution....more to come.

Surely over there in the US you should be able to find people that do this. It depends on how good they are and how much you're willing to spend, I guess.

Would be nice to get the missing parts from a couple of angles maybe even the inside and then get someone to re-design it for you on the computer. I wouldn't be surprised if they can simply make something out of a photo and then just adjust the dimensions and minor tweaks.

Yes I am lucky I live in NYC, where there are a few high-quality places I can look into. The movements and dial are in perfect condition, and it would be nice to get it into a case. I would put the upper limit of what I'm willing to spend as $500. This is my own little project and budget, but these watches are so high priced I could spend $1000 and still be ahead by several hundred dollars.

Yes I looked into the bronze option. If only I could get my hands on a case and scan it, it would make the process of 3-D printing easier. As it is now, it looks like I'll have to make the "blueprint" myself using  a CAD program.

      Thanks Rich, its really not that difficult to make them, simple ones anyway. Cousins didn't have the part though i could find it on ebay at 6.50. I figure i earned about £1.50/ hr . It paid for the diamond files i bought.

      If you look at this thread, you can see I had exactly the same problems with balance springs with 2 prongs on a Smiths 627. The slots in the chaton were not big enough to get the ends of the spring out. I had to bend them to get them out and back in. Not ideal. I don't fancy having to do it again as they could easily break, and where would you find replacements? I didn't come across the 3 prong type.

It's well worth a visit. They have some amazing pieces by the likes of Harrison, Breguet, Tompion etc . I've visited twice before but decided to go and see the Breguet Exhibition. Maybe I was expecting too much, as on reflection, "More than 20 extraordinary timepieces designed by inventor and watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet " isn't going to take up that much space. In reality, it's just one cabinet. But, Oh those watches, stunning 🤩 , e.g. (No 1297 was made for George III and is valued about £1m)   I tried a couple of pics, but with subdued lighting and taking through glass, they aren't good. I like thin hands on a watch - how about these (I think this is a split second chrono)   And this one, with all it's complications, is only 10mm thick !   What I found very interesting were a few very old machines for making watch parts, like this 17th Century gear cutter. The disc below has concentric rings with holes in, so that is can be set to cut varying teeth numbers.

      Firstly sorry for poor image quality I only have an iPhone for photos.    Im working on a 512 movement and I’ve had some trouble with the “jewels”. I’ve got the metal one out, but when I tried to put it back the three sides of the spring seem to need pressing all at once to fit it as there are three “holes”. I get two corners in but as I go for the third the first two pop out! Constantly I’ve lost the spring. I’ve done the similar ones on seiko movements without trouble. Assuming I find it/a replacement, what am I missing!   on the other side with the only ruby in the movement is a setting with no “gap”at all. How do I get the spring out, and of course get it back in!    What am I missing!    thanks in advance.    Rob
