Just joined the forum and am a total novice but am really interested in learning more about watch movements, how the work, and how to look after them.

Based in Newark, Notts so thought about doing a course at the BHI in Southwell but this seems to be a cheaper way to start. :D

Welcome to this very friendly forum.

I’m a great believer of the hands on approach. Its good to read books and read about the basics but there is nothing better than the hands on approach.

Hello!

Yeah, dive in!

Just make sure that the first watches you work on aren't ones you care about

Oh don't worry, I've already bought my first sacrificial movement from eBay. I think it'll be a while yet before I go anywhere near something I care about! Lol
