From Clocks to Watches

Hello All,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I run a clock repair business in Abilene Texas, and have been for about five years now. I've always wanted to get into watch repair; I've dabbled here and there, and have become friends with a watchmaker in town (the only watchmaker in town), who constantly encourages me to get into watches if I really want this to be my profession.

Very excited about this forum, and all the videos!

Welcome to this forum. I did it the other way round.:D

The principles are similar, only you will be working on very small movements. You will also need many tools if you intend to go the whole hog, some of which can be expensive, such as a good cleaning machine, lathe and watch timing machine to name a few, but I expect you already know that.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Welcome to this friendly forum. I originally was interested in clocks & moved to watches. As Old Hippy states the same principles apply but you will require more tools & also tighter tolerances are required for watches to work. .
