How do I test this coil?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My wife has a DKNY quartz watch. She went to get the battery replaced and it no longer works. I have a feeling it might be the coil....

I've uploaded a picture so you guys can see it.

I know that I need to check the resistance, however I'm not sure exactly where I need to put the probes on this to test it lol. Some help here would be greatly appreciated.

Also if it does turn out to be a bad coil where would you recommend I get a replacement? How would I know which coil I need? A quick browse on eBay showed me lots of similar coils, but how would I know which one?

Many thanks.

Use continuency tester on your multimeter, one probe on each of the two terminals. If you get a reading the coils is likely to be fine. If you don't get a reading it's broke.

You would normally just replace the movement.
