OK to ask for source of a needed part?

Hi,

I need a part to repair a tool I own.  Would it be OK to start a thread asking for sources for that part?  Or is that contravening a forum rule (like the rule forbidding advertizing items for sale)?

I think you will be OK to just ask here on this thread, providing the tool is to do with watchmaking or clockmaking. Post pictures here and I'm sure we will try to help. I'm not a mod so you just might like to wait

Nothing wrong with asking for a bit of guidance here, help like you're asking for is usually forthcoming.

OK, thanks for the replies.  It is a part for a staking set that I am after, so it is to do with watchmaking.  I'll start another thread with the appropriate title so that it attracts the correct responses.
