refinish gold hands

Hi

Is refinishing possible ?

I have a watch with gold (color ) hands , it's in very nice condition but the hands just ruin the look.

Just wondering what my options are.

Your simplest option is to buy a set of new hands; be warned though, a new set of hands can look out of place if the dial has any age to it, and you may find it difficult to find the exact same style although there are plenty of generic options out there.

Otherwise it depends on just how bad the hands are. You might get away with just a light polish to clean things up a bit. Your other option may be to look at one of the brush or pen plating kits that are out there. The down side to these is that the plating tends to be very thin and not too durable, but on hands this should not be a problem.

I tried many things, but Pen plating is the way to go...

The price seems to have crept up a bit so you may want to have a hunt around, but I thought I might want to try plating some other things one day so got the selection box.

The result still looks good more than 6 months later
