If it is a screw on back then there should be not problem, unless the thread has been damaged. If so so might need another cover or a worse scenario a replacement case.

If its like mine it just snaps on. Is the case back warped in any way.20160717_082810.jpg

Thats strange the pics I found on the net for a sportsmatic had screw backs. However if it is a snap on style then apart from the cover being distorted a firm press with a case press should do the trick nicely.

i have both screw and snap on case backs. i can say that the snappers are tough to get back on sometimes. but now that i have a caseback tool, it's no problem.

Snap back.... Doesn't look bent

If it's all the way in and still lose, one approach is to slightly deform the lip in few points to increase friction to the case.

I found another one just like the one I'm having issues with at the DAV. The one on the left is the one that I can't get to close.474e33e63e8862531da8e893b884a570.jpg788641b14d465cd08faecdc8a553f61b.jpg

Pictures laid out sideways. Top one having issues closing. I might add that the one on the bottom is the one I just bought and while the case back will close, the watch won't run. It's likely my next project. Picked it up at the DAV for $12.00.
