Hi guys

I've got a Louis Erard to be repaired. It doesn't tick. Hand winding is good. Balance is good. What can be the problem? What do I have to check first?

Please drop me some advice.

Check the pallet fork and escape wheel, also a question is, when you wind it, does the click is working, i.e. is not slipping?

Not much to go on here. It's a bit like the "what was the problem" thread without clues.

What is the history? Has it ever worked?

If "hand winding is good", does that mean you can wind it fully until it stops winding?

Where is the missing screw from the barrel bridge? Is it jammed in the mechanism somewhere?

Do the hands turn freely?

Beyond that I would start taking it apart...

when I wind it, the click is working. I can fully wind it. The missing screw is broken. Its cap is broken away, its body remains in the barrel bridge. Hands can be turned freely.

I will dissemble it soon...

Just break it into sections as we normally do to diagnose these types of issues.  I would start by taking the balance wheel out then taking a toothpick to the pallet fork to see if it "jumps"...if it does, look at the hairspring to ensure that none of the coils are sticking together and that it is true.  Having said all that, I have an inkling this one is simply in dire need of a service;)  Good luck!
