Safety Roller

I'm just wondering if someone has access to a really good video or explanation of the existence of a safety roller.

Hi Dave

 

The safety roller is there to prevent inadvertent release of the escape wheel by locking the anchor via the guard pin so that the anchor is held at one bank or the other until the balance returns to centre.

Wow! Thank you for the link. It just goes to show that there is always more to something than one ever suspects.

It kind of reminds me of 'let off' and 'drop' in a grand action.
