My name is Katlinel and I have just recently began teaching myself watchmaking via a great deal of internet research, YouTube videos, and the sacrificial lamb of my 1800s Elgin 18s pocket watch. I have basic tools and have thus far successfully disassembled, properly cleaned, and have embarked upon the reassembly of this fine piece.  I learned how to manually wind in a mainspring as the original was broken and huzzah, ordered the correct one! Onward to getting the train of wheels into the proper pivots.

I am delighted to meet such a large community of folk who also love this challenging and precise work. I look forward to learning more and hopefully someday to be able to be of assistance to other neophytes.
