Thanks for letting me join. I’m just getting started after fixing a few old quartz watches I’ve had for years. My ultimate goal would be to assemble my own watch some day.

Eyup John, well done on the fixing so far, this is a fascinating and rewarding hobby. A great ultimate goal you have good enthusiasm.  The mechanical side of repair is a different ball game with an infinite amount to learn you will love it. Any questions that you have if you can post some good clear photos that include the dial face, case back front and inside of it and then finally clear macro shots of the movement from both sides once you have it removed from the case. The first step is to identify the movement maker and calibre if your question is regarding the movement itself.  This way forum members with experience of that specific movement should be able to help you the most with the quirks of that make. If you are able to identify it yourself then add that information in your title so those members can pick up on it quickly. With any issue you are having be as specific as your knowledge will allow you, background and history on the watch also important.  Including how the watch came to you, its condition and any work that you  have already done on it. Also at what stage you are at in the hobby is helpful so that we know how much you can understand.  And above all if you dont understand something thats being explained to you dont be affraid to ask. Far better to feel silly ( you may , but dont because everyone here understands that we all have to learn and we all respect each other ) than to let information go over your head. As our residential wise guru Watchweasol says # no question is silly # its only silly if you dont ask it.
