Problem with screw on crown nh35 and seiko mod

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps

have been assembling a watch from parts I have bought (3rd party not genuine) and have got it all working great until I case it and have fitted the crown and stem

so its (I think) the right length, the problem I'm having is that the spring loaded crown does not seem to push hard enough against the stem to "pop" it out of setting/quick set mode into winding. if I use the long uncut stem it works just fine.  I don't think I have cut it too short as when I unscrew it it it just clears the stem tube (threaded bit on the case)

any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I am a noob so please don't assume I have not done something silly !!

Likely the o-ring on the crown is a bit too large, so the friction can't win the weakish spring. Finding a suitable replacement should be possibile, although not easy.

ah! yes its dry, will grease it and report back. thanks again folks

For this particular need I recommend a drop of liquid soap, because silicon grease can be quite sticky.
