Some thing to look out for when buying a clock.

Here we have a clock movement without a hand collet. See it is just pinned, a sure sign that the tip has been broken off probably due to bad fitting pin forced into the hole which broke. Also I’m not sure if this is a marriage between movement and case. See the large gap between the dial and case could be due to shrinkage but I don’t think so, just by looking at photos is hard to tell. The movement and dial are as they should be. Many of these cases were made out of just fruit wood so no nice marks unlike what you would get with walnut and other woods, that is why they were painted black. What do you think? There are many clocks in this seller’s shop some do look a bit dodgy.

The hands are definitely not right, they are too long and don't suit the style. Plus the dial plate looks too new and not the right size. The movement looks ok but sawdust in the bottom of the case is certainly a red flag.
