Old Timex

Hi,

I'm new to all of this and I find it fascinating. I inherited a couple of really old watches and I would love to get an honest opinion of what I have in hand. Here is the first of three that I want to know about. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone know what this is? My Dad passed away and it was in a drawer. So, I cleaned it up and put a battery in it and it works great

Hi  and welcome.  Have a look at the back of the watch there should be some numbers if you post a picture of the back we may be able to give you more informatio n.     Have a look at the attached site for a bit more insight.

What you have is an early quartz controlled mechanical balance watch from Timex. This is a precursor of modern quartz watches using stepper motors.

I'm not sure of the exact calibre of the movement because Timex made a handful of them with only minor differences to the components on the circuit board.

From your pictures, it looks like you have a M64 movement.

Wow! So Dad's old watch is from 1973-1977 and it still works like a charm and keeps perfect time. Thank you so much for the info.

I have one too but when I install a battery it only runs for a short while, Many years overdue a service I reckon!
